Resilience is the ability to adapt and grow through adversity. Studying or working in academic research can sometimes be hard and require trainees of all levels (postbac, graduate, postdoctoral) to build resilience skills. These skills will allow trainees to dampen negative self-talk, advocate for themselves, learn to receive feedback, and maximize mentoring relationships.
The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and the Markey Oncology Mentoring, Education, Networking and Training Umbrella (MOMENTUM) are delighted to coordinate a Becoming a Resilient Scientist training program for trainees of all levels (undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral) at the University of Kentucky. Using Becoming a Resilient Scientist (BRS) series materials developed by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Intramural Training & Education, this training program is designed to help trainees develop skills to become resilient scientists.
