The first ever Society of Postdoctoral Scholars (SOPS) Research Pitch Challenge will provide Postdocs the chance to showcase a 1-minute research elevator pitch in a way that leaves viewers hungry for more! Are you up to the challenge?! Come and seize the opportunity to highlight innovative research projects, improve communication skills, and foster collaboration.
Eligibility and rules
- All University of Kentucky postdocs are eligible to apply
- The competition is limited to 20 contenders – if more than 20 applications are received, SOPS will select 20 finalists based on quality of abstract and impact of problem to be solved
- Participation is free
- Limit to 1 slide if using one
- Cash prizes (up to $500) will be awarded to the winners
Location
- All events leading up to the competition (webinar, workshop) will be held online (Zoom)
- The Pitch Competition will also be held online (Zoom)
Important Dates
- July 10th, 2020: Application open
- July 29th, 2020: Application closes (5 pm EST)
- July 29th, 2020: Pitching Your Research webinar by Office of Technology Commercialization (open to all postdocs!)
- July 31st, 2020: Preparation workshop for finalists with the Office of Technology Commercialization
- August 10th, 2020: Additional practice with the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs
- August 11th, 2020: Deadline for finalists to submit slides (5 pm EST)
- August 12th, 2020: Pitch competition
