This session is a dynamic and practical introduction to the science of storytelling, exploring techniques and approaches to engage and broaden the audience to your research and ideas. This session serves as the launch for the 2021 Society of Postdoctoral Scholars Popular Science Writing Competition in which postdocs are invited to transform a research paper into a popular science story worthy to share with the world.

Stephen Wrentmore

Stephen Wrentmore is an award winning British theatre director, dramaturg, producer, writer, academic, curator, and change consultant. He currently works at the University of Kentucky in the College of Fine Arts.

Stephen studied at the University of Cambridge, the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and Oklahoma City University . He was visiting academic at the University of Oxford in 2009 and is a Fellow of the Clore Leadership Programme.

He was Artistic Producer at Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts until 2018. Formally, he was Associate Artistic Director of Arizona Theatre Company, Artistic Director of the Byre Theatre, St Andrews, and has worked at The National Theatre in London, Tate Gallery, and internationally in theatres from Siberia to San Francisco.
