Postdoctoral scholar and fellow reappointments require a new Notice of Appointment (NOA) be prepared and submitted for approval. The NOA is the official document that describes the terms of appointment for each postdoc and requires signature by the appropriate Department Chair or Research Unit Director, the appropriate Dean, and the Provost. The Graduate School is authorized to sign reappointments on behalf of the Provost.
Please note that those who have previously served as postdoctoral scholar or fellow for five years in the U.S. (including the University of Kentucky) are no longer eligible to be reappointed as postdoctoral scholar or fellow. Exceptions can be requested and will only be approved in extraordinary circumstances with strong justification. These requests should be submitted to Joseph Lutz (joseph.lutz@uky.edu) prior to requesting a reappointment.
